A few years ago, just before I walked onto the stage to give a TEDx talk in Colomiers (SW France) I had a panic attack.
Out of nowhere.
It hit fast — heart racing, legs shaking, breath tight.
The door behind me had already closed. No escape.
Two kind staff members told me, “Just stay calm.” (If you’ve ever had a panic attack, you’ll know how not helpful that is.)
I walked out onto the stage and my leg shook the entire time. Even my voice did a few wobbles here and there… But I did it anyway.
So, if you’re someone who overthinks, or you’re prone to panic attacks, here’s a quick tip I share with clients (wish I'd know this before my talk!).
This sensory grounding hijacks the brain — and gives your nervous system a moment to come back online.
Panic doesn’t mean weakness.
It means your system is working overtime to keep you safe.
And you can find your way through it.
